[Introduction:]

Grape Juice concentrate extract  powder is another powerful antioxidant. It strengthens and protects living tissue and aids in circulation. It is a super antioxidant, 20-50 times more powerful than vitamin C, E and beta-carotene. As we age, our bodies produce less antioxidant to combat the aging process and therefore need to supplement with these. Grape seed extract contain natural bioflavonoids called proanthocyanidins which help support the health of the cell membranes from free radical damage. It also provides cardiovascular protection by preventing oxidation of lipoproteins, making them less likely to stick to blood vessel walls.

1) Flavors in seasoning packets for raspberry juice powder keep the original flavors

[Application ]

• Add to water and ice for a crisp, refreshing vitamin water

• Add to electrolyte water for an all-natural sports drink

• Prepare a “simple syrup” by adding to an all-natural sweetener and water, use it to flavor mixed drinks or make shaved ice creations

• Add powder to baked goods such as cakes, cupcakes, muffins and cookies

• Add to vegetable juices

• Stir into plain yogurt

• Stir into ice cream

Full recipe:
Crust:
100g Finely chopped and roasted hazelnuts
200g plain flour
125g cold Butter in cubes
Pinch salt
100g caster sugar

Filling
500g cream cheese (room temperature)
180g caster sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond essence
3 large eggs
2 tbsp double cream
200g blueberries
Method:
Preheat oven to gas 3 / 165 c
Grease a 9-inch spring form tin with butter
Step 1 – make the crust.
If using a blender, put all the ingredients in the mixer and blend until the mixture becomes lumpy and like large bread crumbs
Or put the flour and butter in a large bowl and rub together until it looks like large breadcrumbs, Then mix in all the other crust ingredients
Press the mixture into the bottom of the tin firmly then put in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes or until it’s turned golden on top
Take out and leave to the side.

Step 2 – make the filling
While the crust is baking you can start on making the filling
If using a blender, add all ingredients apart from the egg’s and blueberries
Blend until smooth and all the lumps have gone
If you don’t have a blender, don’t worry, just put all the same ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth
Then add the eggs, one at a time and beat slowly until it is all mixed in
Then stir in the blueberries
Don’t whisk the cheesecake, as you want to avoid adding air
Pour the filling on top of the crust and put in the oven for 45 minutes
To check it is done, gently shake the tin and if it wobbles slightly in the middle it is done, if it is still runny it’s not done
Turn oven off and leave cheesecake in there to cool down for an hour
Once it is cool, put into the fridge and leave to chill over night
then impress the socks off anyone with this… They’ll be all yours!

TEDx Del Mar Oct 2011 Richard Insel, M.D.: Is There a Vaccine?

Our theme for TEDxDelMar 2011 was “A Search For A Cure”. In this talk, Dr. Richard Insel gives us his presentation entitled “Is There a Vaccine?”

Richard Insel, M.D. is Chief Scientific Officer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Dr. Insel oversees the research strategy at the JDRF, the worlds’ largest funder of type 1 diabetes research and that is focused on curing, treating, and preventing type 1 diabetes and its complications. Prior to joining JDRF in 2003, Dr. Insel was founding Director of the Center for Human Genetics and Molecular Pediatric Disease and Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology/ Immunology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. During his 26-year affiliation with the University of Rochester Medical Center, he also held several positions including Acting Chair of Pediatrics, Director of the Strong Children’s Research Center, and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Immunology, Allergy, and Rheumatology. His research program at the University focused on immune responses to bacterial vaccines, including polysaccharide and protein-polysaccharide conjugate vaccines, and B cell immunity. Dr. Insel was a scientific co-founder and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Praxis Biologics, a biotechnology company that developed Haemophilus influenzae conjugate vaccines, which have been instrumental in eliminating invasive disease from that pathogen in the United States. He served recently on the National Advisory Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council of the National Institutes of Health and the External Advisory Panel for the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, and currently serves on the Board of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine and the Steering Committee of TrialNet. Dr. Insel received pediatric and immunology training at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, St. Mary’s Medical College, and the Center for Disease Control and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
