In Siddhi Life at the very beginning, we don’t try to push these 1 in 10 supposedly “Infertile” couple through a battery of investigations or a series of painful surgical procedures straightaway. As a matter of fact, we feel you don’t need to be treated as “conventional patients” at all.

All we would attempt at the outset, would be to help nature along. In all probability we may treat you with fertility enhancement drugs followed by a set of serial sonographies (since this helps us to pinpoint the day of ovolution when you should have planned relations), “Timed intercourse” thereby increases your chances of having a baby that very month. IUI stands for Intra Uterine Insemination and FSP (another varitant of IUI which may suggest first up) stands for Fallopian Sperm Perfusion. For both these procedures, a drug is given along with some injections in the first part of your cycle which increases the number of eggs which may be available in the cycle.

Sonographies (Follicle monitoring) gets done atleast 3-4 times in the first half of a woman’s cycle. On the day you ovulate, which can be triggered by a injection given 36 to 40 hours earlier, you need to visit the clinic with your spouse. IUI or FSP can be done as a “Out Patient Procedure”. In effect, you are not admitted into the clinic but undergo a “Day Care Procedure” which generally does not require any anesthesia or any hospital admission for more than a day. This form of treatment will require a lot of co-operation and patience on your part. In fact one can continue this treatment for a few months without taking recourse to any advanced treatment.

In case repeated IUI’s fail, or if it is necessary that more advanced ART procedures like IVF-ET or ICSI are needed, we would have to draw a detailed action plan including all the logistics involved. Every case requires a tailor made plan and an analysis of the couple so meeting us will be necessary. for example in a woman who is diagnosed to have blocked tubes we may straight away recommend a procedure of IVF (Test Tube Baby) or ICSI rather than the conventional 2-5 cycles of IUI.

In all our other patients, we try and follow the conventional methods first which may appear to be slow. Remember a woman ovulates once in a month and this egg will survive for not more than 36 to 48 hours. Technically, therefore it is not possible to have more than one chance in a month to conceive.
