Ginger – This common ingredient in Asian cooking has a lot of research to support its therapeutic benefits, particularly stemming from one of its bioactive ingredients called gingerol.

Ginger is highly effective against nausea and vomiting, as well as other digestive conditions such as bloating and constipation. It is said to relax the muscles in the lining of the digestive tract, helping food move more freely through.

The gingerols in Ginger have been shown to naturally improve diabetes and improve insulin sensitivity. According to Dr Josh Axe, ginger not only helps prevent and reverse diabetes, it also improves and protects the body against diabetic complications. Here are some ways you can reap the benefits of ginger.

Create a ginger tea using about 1 gram of fresh grated ginger in a cup of boiling water. Add honey for taste. Allow to brew for about 1 minute. This natural tonic helps to ease nausea, morning sickness and even motion sickness.

Ginger is also a warming herb. At the first sign of a cold, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the same ginger tea to help boost your immune system.

Juice your ginger. Freshly squeezed Apple, lemon and ginger juice helps cleanse the colon, detox the liver and keeps your immune system strong.

Tomatoes – Tomatoes originate from the Mediterranean region of Europe and are found in gardens all over the world.
