[What is Epimedium?]

Epimedium extract is a popular aphrodisiac supplement and herbal sexual performance enhancer.It has a long history of traditional use in China for the alleviation of erectile dysfunction and for improving libido and fertility.

Also known as Horny Goat Weed, this supplement supposedly got its name after a farmer noticed that his flock of goats were particularly aroused after eating flowers of a specific type. These Epimedium flowers contain icariin, which is a natural compound that increases blood flow to sexual organs and promotes sex drive. Icariin has been found to increase Nitric Oxide synthesis as well as inhibiting the activity of the PDE-5 enzyme

[Icariin in Epimedium Extract]

Epimedium extracts powder contain an active phytochemical called icariin.Icariin has been observed to exhibit a number of useful traits, including renoprotective (liver protecting) hepatoprotective (kidney protecting), cardioprotective (heart protecting) and neuroprotective (brain protecting) effects.

It is also an antioxidant and can cause vasodilation. It exhibits antimicrobial characteristics and is thought to act as an aphrodisiac.

Icariin is classified as a flavonol glycoside, which is a type of flavonoid. Specifically, icariin is the 8-prenyl derivation of kaempferol 3,7-O-diglucoside, a prevalent and important flavonoid.

We stopped out at Madison’s at Findlay Market to share a few of these really could spice up your life and your health.

It’s not the usual thing you might search out, but next time you stop by your favorite fresh food market you should see if they have any fresh spices.

A summary report from the Center for Science in the Public Interest found several are “super spices” as in “super good” for you.

While you may not be used to seeing the raw form of several spices, you can grate them up and put them in recipes so you don’t need a lot of salt and other seasonings for flavor.

They are also very high in nutrients in the raw form and it’s one of the reasons these make this super spices list.

Ginger tops the list. It’s been found to help with motion sickness, morning sickness and even the aftermath nausea from chemotherapy.

Curcumin is next. It’s the compound in turmeric that makes curry powder and mustard yellow.

It may help reduce the risk of memory loss and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Finally, cinnamon sticks are a great addition to anything. It may help balance long blood sugar levels in those with type two diabetes.

“We have Bitter leaf and use it to cure mouth odor. We have Bitter lemon and we use it for people that are obese, to remove excess fat and people that are hypertensive,” says Dr Promise.

For hernia or appendix, instead of surgery, he recommends:

“Take 5 liter of the freshly tapped palm wine, mix it with reasonable quantity of the young banana shoot, boil it for 30 – 40 mins, filter it and drink the water for 21 days – you will piss out the dissolved hernia.”

The customers are passers by on the roadside who stop to ask questions on health related issues, he teaches them how to combine herbs, and they sometimes give out herbs to people for free in tiny plastic bags.

Dr Promise says he was trained by a Dr Kelly in Cameroon; he moved to Nigeria one or two years ago and business is booming:
