[What is elderberry extract?]

Elderberry extract comes from the fruit of the Sambucus nigra or Black Elder, a species found in Europe, Western Asia, North Africa, and North America. Called “the medicine chest of the common people,” Elder flowers, berries, leaves, bark, and roots have all been used for centuries in traditional folk medicines.Elder fruit contains vitamins A, B and C, flavonoids, tannins, carotenoids, and amino acids. Elderberry is believed to possess therapeutic uses as an anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and immuno-stimulant.

1. As medicine raw material: It can promote the healing of gastrointestinal ulcers; It can be used for acute and chronic hepatitis and hepatitis evocable hepatomegaly, hepatocirrhosis; promote the healing of liver function.

☀CLEAN-AS-YOU-CAN-GET ALMOND JOY BARS☀
INGREDIENTS
1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1 Tbsp honey (more or less to taste/if consistency needs it)
1 tsp stevia (more or less to taste)
1/4 tsp coconut oil
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
10 almonds
2.5oz dark chocolate chips

PROCEDURE
Combine coconut, honey, stevia, coconut oil, vanilla and salt in food processor. Allow to run for 3-4 minutes until a paste consistency forms. You should be able to form the coconut into small “bar” shapes with your hands. If the coconut won’t stay together, you may need to add a bit more honey.
Form coconut mixture into your (10) candy bars.
Place a single almond on top of each bar.
Freeze for 20 minutes.
Melt 2.5oz of chocolate in the microwave, 30 seconds at a time, stirring until ready.
Using a small skewer or toothpick to hold the bar, dip and cover each candy bar with a light coating of chocolate. You will need to be delicate with the almond!
Freeze for 10-15 minutes until firm.
Devour!

This recipe yields 10 servings.

I’ve been having trouble with raccoons eating my melons, and groundhogs eating the sweet potatoes. Trapping wasn’t working, so I decided to mix up some pepper spray using Red Habeneros. I used about a dozen peppers, along with some garlic and dish liquid to make a nice critter deterrent. Make sure you don’t use the good kitchen blender or the wife might get upset. You can find a cheap one at a yard sale that will work just fine.

After getting the vegetables sprayed to deter the critters, I set the trap again for the raccoon. He got the marshmallows the first night, and didn’t spring the trap. So I loosened the trap, added more marshmallows, and caught him the next night. He was released in a swamp behind the horse farm.

When you are growing a garden, it is very important to learn the animals that are in your area. Coons, groundhogs, deer, squirrels, etc…..they can all do serious damage to your garden. How you decide to deal with them is a personal choice. But trapping and pepper spray are 2 very good options.
