[Function]
Grapes (Vitis vinifera) have been heralded for their medicinal and nutritional value for thousands of years. Egyptians ate grapes a very long time back, and several ancient Greek philosophers spoke about the healing power of grapes — usually in the form of wine. European folk healers made an ointment from the sap of grapevines to treat skin and eye diseases. Grape leaves were used to stop bleeding, inflammation, and pain, such as the kind brought on by hemorrhoids. Unripe grapes were used to treat sore throats, and dried grapes (raisins) were used for constipation and thirst. Round, ripe, sweet grapes were used to treat a range of health problems including cancer, cholera, smallpox, nausea, eye infections, and skin, kidney, and liver diseases.
Grape seed extracts are industrial derivatives from whole grape seeds that have a great concentration of vitamin E, flavonoids, linoleic acid and phenolic OPCs. The typical commercial opportunity of extracting grape seed constituents has been for chemicals known as polyphenols having antioxidant activity in vitro.

Ginkgo Biloba also known as the “Brain Herb”
When it comes to ancient plants, almost nothing on our planet is older than the ginkgo biloba tree. This tree is native to China, and is still found primarily there, as it is difficult to produce saplings of the trees, and some ginkgo trees are over 2,500 years old (traceable back to over 300 million years). Some of the most important and unique health benefits of ginkgo include its ability to improve memory, boost vision, alleviate pain, boost circulation, reduce blood pressure, protects the nervous system, boost heart health, prevent cancer, and slow the signs of aging.
Over a long period of time, ginkgo biloba has developed a well deserved reputation for its main health benefits associated with improved blood circulation in the body and especially in the brain. Many health practitioners have recognized the medicinal herbs outstanding results when it comes to improving memory and overall brain functions. Laboratory studies have shown that ginkgo improves blood circulation by opening up blood vessels and making blood less sticky.
The ginkgo leaves contain chemicals (flavonoids and terpenoids) that act as important antioxidants inhibiting the damage free radicals can cause from expanding within your body and cells, something that’s even more important as you age. By fighting off these particles, ginkgo biloba’s effects help prevent debilitating health conditions.
This herb’s principal quality is its ability to increase and improve blood flow by dilating blood vessels, therefore it’s no surprise that various laboratory tests and animal studies showed that its flavonoids protect the nerves, heart muscle, blood vessels and retina from damage.
It is often suggested in alternative medicine for:
• Helping improve memory and protecting nerve cells in the brain
• One study showed that it helped improve vision for those with Glaucoma
• Another study found that it could help reduce the symptoms associated with clogged arteries
• There are women who swear by its ability to help reduce PMS symptoms
• As a natural remedy for chronic tinnitus
Ginkgo is available:
• As a mildly sweet herbal tea (you can order it in bulk or in tea bags).
• In capsule form- this one is often recommended since it contains the standardized extract that has been most studied, Standardized extracts containing 24% flavonoids and 6% terpenoids. 40 mg tablets are most popular. Posted on the screen are daily dosages that are commonly used according to medical professionals.
Important Cautions When Using Ginkgo
As with any herb or vitamin, it is important to talk to a doctor before using Ginkgo. Those with bleeding disorders, epilepsy, seizure disorders or other health conditions should not take it, nor should pregnant or nursing women, or children. Those taking any type of medication should check with a doctor to rule out interactions before taking. Also, please do not eat Ginkgo biloba fruit or seed, as it is not edible. Be careful when first using ginkgo biloba and always discuss your potential risk factors with a medical professional before adding this powerful herbal supplement to your regimen.
