Encapsulated Bacteria [USMLE]



Encapsulated bacteria – Examples are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pneumoniae A , Haemophilus Influenzae type B, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and group B Strep. Their capsules serve as an antiphagocytic virulence factor.
