COLWOOD — It’s invasive and noxious and poses a serious threat to our ecosystem and livestock.

Milk Thistle — first noticed in Royal Bay in 2009 — is making a comeback of sorts.

At the time — the city of Colwood battled back aggressively with controlled burns, pesticide spraying and even digging the dastardly weed up.

Three years later it is relatively contained on municipal land but the owners of the private land adjacent are no longer addressing it.

The BC Investment Management Corporation is the new owner and city officials say though the corporation (basically the BC Pension Corp) has said it is working on the property — there have been no signs of that yet — which the six foot tall milk thistle shows.
