Murungai Keerai Rasam / Drumstick Leaves Rasam is one of the best recipe using drumstick leaves. Previously I have done Murungai Keerai Poriyal and Murungai Keerai Soup. Drumstick leaves rich in Iron which improves the hemoglobin count in blood.

Ingredients for Drumstick Leaves Rasam / Murungai Keerai Rasam

Drumstick Leaves / Murungai Keerai – 1 Cup
Tomato – 1 No.
Tamarind – small piece
Turmeric Powder – 1 tspn
Toor dal – 1 tbspn
Rice – 1 tbspn
Grated Coconut – 2 tbspn
Cumin seed – 1 tspn
Red Chilli – 2 No.
Curry Leaves – little
Cooking Oil – little
Salt to taste

Preparation

Cook the drumstick leaves in 3 cups of water along with turmeric powder and salt and let the mixture get boiled and filter to take only the filtrate of drumstick leaves. Keep the other pan add the tamarind juice and add tomato pieces and let the mixture get boiled and tomato get cooked.

In the meantime grind the Grated coconut, Cumin seed, Red Chilli, Curryleaves, Toor Dal and rice as a paste. Add the drumstick leaves juice in the tamarind juice and tomato mixture and after that add the grinded paste and let the mixture get boiled and switch off the flame.

The delicious Drumstick Leaves Rasam / Murungai Keerai Rasam is ready to serve.
