Plandai VP on potential health benefits from green tea extract
Callum Cottrell-Duffield, vice president of sales and marketing at tea maker Plandai Biotechnology Inc (OTCMKTS:PLPL) says “bringing a tea estate back to life is not an easy thing” but is encouraged that sales are “increasing month on month”.
The company pioneers Nutraceuticals, naturally occurring beneficial nutrients attained from foodstuffs, with its lead product a green tea extract made from concentrated natural antioxidant from tea leaves grown on its Senteeko estate in South Africa.
The active ingredient is gallate catechin, a type of anti-oxidant, a micronutrient shown to aid in the prevention of cell degeneration and related diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
Plandai also has a licence in Uruguay to research “non-psychoactive cannabinoid medicines”, but Cottrell-Duffield says the company is in a holding pattern and not currently working on a cannabis extract.
