This is how I spread red clover seed on my winter wheat field in late March / early April. The red clover grows slowly under the wheat crop. When the wheat is harvested in early August, the clover gets more sun and starts to grow faster. The clover is good for soil health and provides a source of nutrients to the following year’s corn crop.
