Sherwin Williams, in collaboration with the United Soybean Board, was presented the ‘Designing Greener Chemicals Award’ at the 2011 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards Ceremony hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The premier paint manufacturer created “Water-based Acrylic Alkyd Technology” that uses soybean oil as a substitute for using petroleum products. This new product has less issues yellowing with age, less odor issues when painting and lasts longer, yet still has the shiny, oil-based finish customers look for.
