[What is Epimedium?]
Epimedium extract is a popular aphrodisiac supplement and herbal sexual performance enhancer.It has a long history of traditional use in China for the alleviation of erectile dysfunction and for improving libido and fertility.
Also known as Horny Goat Weed, this supplement supposedly got its name after a farmer noticed that his flock of goats were particularly aroused after eating flowers of a specific type. These Epimedium flowers contain icariin, which is a natural compound that increases blood flow to sexual organs and promotes sex drive. Icariin has been found to increase Nitric Oxide synthesis as well as inhibiting the activity of the PDE-5 enzyme
[Icariin in Epimedium Extract]
Epimedium extracts powder contain an active phytochemical called icariin.Icariin has been observed to exhibit a number of useful traits, including renoprotective (liver protecting) hepatoprotective (kidney protecting), cardioprotective (heart protecting) and neuroprotective (brain protecting) effects.
It is also an antioxidant and can cause vasodilation. It exhibits antimicrobial characteristics and is thought to act as an aphrodisiac.
Icariin is classified as a flavonol glycoside, which is a type of flavonoid. Specifically, icariin is the 8-prenyl derivation of kaempferol 3,7-O-diglucoside, a prevalent and important flavonoid.
[Function]
1. Combat mental and physical fatigue;
2. Induce vasodilation and improve circulation;
3. Lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients;
4. Improve symptoms of erectile dysfunction (ED) through its action as a PDE5 inhibitor;
5. Improve the use of free testosterone in the blood;
6. Increase libido;
7. Alleviate symptoms of depression and stimulate improved cognitive function;
8. Protect against neurological degeneration.

This is one of the delicious vegetarian and vegan dish you will ever eat. This is a Middle Eastern dish. I adapted it from Najatskitchen but I made some adjustments and additions to her recipe and made it my own way I really thank her for this amazing dish.
Ingredients
1 cup fine brughul washed and drained
1/2 cup semolina
1/4 cup grated onion
1/4 tsp salt or to taste
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp white or black black pepper
1/2 tsp marjoram
1 cup pumpkin purée
Add all the ingredients together and mix well then knead the dough as you would knead any bread dough. If the dough is stiff just add a little of water like 1/8 cup. The fought should be soft.
The filling :
1 cup chopped onion
2 cups chopped Swiss chard stem part or leave part or all together ( I had only stem )
1/2-3/4 cup cooked chickpeas ( I used the can one). Remove the skin.
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup chopped flat parsley
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2-1 tsp 7 spices
1-2 tbsp sumac
Salt to taste. Be careful not to add a lot because smuc contains salt too.
Steps:
1-Heat about 3 tbsp oil in a medium pan and over a medium heat, add onion and cook a little then add chopped Swiss chard and cook for a few more minutes or until the onion and Swiss chard are soft.
2-Add chickpeas, parsley and walnuts and cook for a couple of minutes.
3-Add black pepper and 7 spices and cook for one minutes then add sumac and mix well. Check for the salt then turn the heat off.
How to make the kubeh/ kuba
1-Brush a small baking pan about 5×7 inch.
With generous amount of vegetable oil or any oil.
2-Open and level half of the dough amount as first layer.
3-Distribute the filling equally on top of the first layer of the dough then drizzle a little of olive oil or any oil on top.
4-Open and level the second amount of the dough on top of the filling.
5-Brush the top with generous amount of vegetable oil or olive oil or any oil you like.
6-Cut into any shape you like. I top the squares with pumpkin seeds.
7-Bake at 400 F for about 45 minutes or until it is brown from the side and top.

Full title: Cures for Malaria, Tuberculosis, Alzheimer’s? An Update on Natural Products Discovery at HBOI
About the Speaker
Dr. Amy Wright is formally trained as an organic chemist and has spent the past 35 years exploring the chemistry of marine organisms with the goal of identifying natural products with the potential to change how we treat dread diseases. Much of her work has focused on organisms collected in deep water habitats using tools such as the Johnson-Sea-Link submersibles. She received her B.S. from California State University at Dominguez Hills and her MSc and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California at Riverside.
About the Lecture
Wherever there is biological diversity there is chemical diversity and this diversity leads to opportunities for finding new medicines. Many plants, marine animals and microbes produce small organic molecules, “natural products”, that provide advantages to the organisms that make them which range from attracting mates to repelling or even poisoning predators.
These same natural products often show activity in human health applications and over 46% of the small molecule medicines used today have their origin in natural products. The talk will discuss the HBOI natural products library and how we are using it to look for new compounds with the potential to treat cancer, tuberculosis, multi-drug resistant bacterial infections, and Alzheimer’s disease.

In China, we have purchased many times, this time is the most successful and most satisfactory, a sincere and realiable Chinese manufacturer!
