Brief Introduction

Astaxanthin is a natural nutritional component, it can be found as a food supplement. The supplement is intended for human, animal, and aquaculture consumption.

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid. It belongs to a larger class of phytochemicals known as terpenes, which are built from five carbon precursors; isopentenyl diphosphate and dimethylallyl diphosphate . Astaxanthin is classified as a xanthophyll (originally derived from a word meaning “yellow leaves” since yellow plant leaf pigments were the first recognized of the xanthophyll family of carotenoids), but currently employed to describe carotenoid compounds that have oxygen-containing moities, hydroxyl or ketone , such as zeaxanthin and canthaxanthin. Indeed, astaxanthin is a metabolite of zeaxanthin and/or canthaxanthin, containing both hydroxyl and ketone functional groups. Like many carotenoids, astaxanthin is a colorful, lipid-soluble pigment. This colour is due to the extended chain of conjugated (alternating double and single) double bonds at the centre of the compound. This chain of conjugated double bonds is also responsible for the antioxidant function of astaxanthin (as well as other carotenoids) as it results in a region of decentralized electrons that can be donated to reduce a reactive oxidizing molecule.

Function:

1.Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and may protect against oxidative damage to body tissues.

2.Astaxanthin can improve the immune response by increasing the number of antibody producing cells.

3.Astaxanthin is a potential candidate to treat neurodegenerative disease such as Alzhimer and Parkinson diease.

4.Astaxanthin dan reduce UVA-light damage to skin such as sunburn, inflammation, ageing and skin cancer.

Application

1.When applied in pharmaceutical field, astaxanthin powder has the good function of antineoplastic;

2.When applied in health food field, astaxanthin powder is used as food additives for pigment and health care;

3.When applied in cosmetic field, astaxanthin powder has the good function of antioxidant and anti-aging;

4.When applied in animal feeds field, astaxanthin powder is used as animal feed additive to impart coloration, including farm-raised salmon and egg yolks.

The Stevia rebaudiana is commonly known as Madhu Tulsi. This is widely grown for its sweet leaves. Stevia and Sunflower belong to asteraceae family. The sweet herb Stevia is becoming a major source of natural sweetener as an alternate of sugar. It is rapidly replacing the chemical sweetener like Splenda, Saccharine and Aspartame.The plant is native to tropical and subtropical regions of North America and South America. There are near about 240 species of Stevia Genus. It is grown widely in countries like Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela. In Venezuela it is being used over 1500 years. Stevia leaves are 20-25 times sweeter than normal sugar. The extract of stevia Rebaudioside-A is around 300-400 times sweeter than normal sugar. The sweetness of stevia also felt for long time.
A good market is being developed for stevia domestically as well as internationally. This is a ray of hope for the diabetic patient. As it is natural source of sweetener. It is also used for the treatment of obesity and high blood sugar patient. There is not increase in sugar level after consumption of stevia as sweetener as substitute of normal sugar.Replacement and replanting
From the subsequent years some plants will die off duet to various reasons, these gaps should be immediately filled by well developed seedlings .Depending upon the soil type and management the productivity will decline after 5 years and this should be replaced with new plantation.

Tinda (Baby pumpkin) 5 n
Potato 5 n
Salt
Turmeric
Chilly powder 2 tb
Shahi jeera 1 ts
Bay leaf 2 n
Cashew nuts 6 n
Melon seeds 2 tb
Cumin seeds 1 ts
Pumpkin seeds 2 tb
Coriander powder 1 ts
Green chilly chopped 3 n
Yogurt ½ c
Hing 1 pi

First remove the skin of baby pumpkin, and scoop out the seeds and punch it with the help of fork.

Stuffing:
Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, small pieces of potatoes, cook this, and turmeric, salt, add seeds of pumpkin, chilly powder, cook for some time, take this mixture and stuff it in the baby pumpkin.

Heat oil in a pan and add Shahi jeera, bay leaf, (chilly powder, garam masala, salt, turmeric, hing, coriander powder, and add water and mix it) add this mixture in to the oil and add cashew nut, and melon seeds paste, green chilly, and beaten yogurt and cook for some time, add stuffed baby pumpkins, lid on and cook for some time, switch off the flame.
Serve this hot with roti, rice.
