[What is cranberry]
Cranberries are a group of evergreen dwarf shrubs or trailing vines in the subgenus Oxycoccus of the genus Vaccinium.     Our neighbors were kind enough to give us fifteen pounds of Concord Grapes. It’s really quite easy and inexpensive to make and can your own jam, especially if the fruit was free. But you can also find grapes at this time of year at a local food co-op or farmer’s market.

    1. Wash eight half-pint jars, lids, and rings in hot soapy water.

    2. Remove about 3-4 pounds of grapes from the stems, placing them in small batches in a colander to be rinsed under cold water.

    3. Collect all of the washed grapes in an 8-quart pot, add three cups of water and simmer covered for five minutes.

    4. Use a ladle to move simmered grapes to a fine-mesh sieve and work through using a potato masher.
