[What is Epimedium?]

Researchers were trying to work out why the French have a fatty diet with lots of cheese and cream … and yet they have a 42% lower rate of heart disease than Americans.

The design of an industrial scale process to produce and extract resveratrol from muscadine grape cell cultures with the aid of an elicitor will be presented. The elicitor promotes increased production of resveratrol in the cells as well as excretion of resveratrol into the culture medium, simplifying the final extraction steps. A cell culture production process is more environmentally friendly than conventional extraction methods and results in a naturally derived product. The purified resveratrol will then be used in health supplements and cosmetic products.
