[What is Tribulus terrestris?]

Tribulus terrestris is a vine that has been used as a general tonic (energy) and herbal treatment for impotence, but is found primarily in dietary supplements marketed for increasing testosterone levels in bodybuilders and power athletes. The idea behind tribulus is that it may increase testosterone levels indirectly by raising blood levels of another hormone, luteinizing hormone.

Ginkgo biloba (Japanse notenboom)

Ginkgo biloba de Japanse notenboom, is een levend fossiel, kwam in de tijd van de dinosauriërs al voor. De Ginkgo hoort bij de traag groeiende bomen en kan uiteindelijk een meter of 20 hoog worden.

De Ginkgo biloba ofwel de Japanse notenboom zit tussen een naaldboom en een loofboom in, de bladeren bestaan uit naalden die vergroeit zijn in een blad.

De bast van Ginkgo biloba is grijs, zacht en heeft soms diepe groeven. Het blad is waaiervormig met een insnijding in het midden (biloba = tweelobbig).
In de herfst verkleurt deze Japanse notenboom naar een prachtige goud/gele herfstkleur.

Ginkgo biloba staat het liefst op een zonnige plaats en een goed waterdoorlatende vochtige grond, maar de Ginkgo past zich heel makkelijk aan bij mindere omstandigheden, zoals arme grond, hitte, droogte, sneeuwstormen en luchtvervuiling.

Ginkgo biloba heeft ook een zeer hoge weerstand tegen ziektes, insectenplagen, schimmels enz.. en hoeft nooit bespoten te worden met bestrijdingsmiddelen.

Ginkgo biloba is daarom dus ook een perfecte straatboom in de stad.
