Measuring 23″ in length with a 7/8″ diameter sound chamber, this Arroyo Willow (Salix lasiolepis) unsplit branch flute has been soulfully and expressive voiced to an Fm(4) pentatonic scale, playing three upper octave notes. The bark has been left on, well sealed to insure its continued adherence to the wood. End checks have been inlaid with crushed Turquoise. Deer leather lacing with Turquoise and brass beads secures the bird to its nest. To help prevent wet-out, the bird has been fitted with a cedar shoe, and a drain hole, covered by the lacing, has been designed into the bottom of the air chamber. The branch for this flute was gathered sustainably, with prayer and gratitude, within the San Marcos Creek watershed of San Diego County, CA.
