[What is Epimedium?]

Epimedium extract is a popular aphrodisiac supplement and herbal sexual performance enhancer.It has a long history of traditional use in China for the alleviation of erectile dysfunction and for improving libido and fertility.

Also known as Horny Goat Weed, this supplement supposedly got its name after a farmer noticed that his flock of goats were particularly aroused after eating flowers of a specific type. These Epimedium flowers contain icariin, which is a natural compound that increases blood flow to sexual organs and promotes sex drive. Icariin has been found to increase Nitric Oxide synthesis as well as inhibiting the activity of the PDE-5 enzyme

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup milk
2 cups cranberries
2 tablespoons grated orange or lemon peel
CREAM SAUCE:
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 cup whipping cream
2/3 cup butter
Directions

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and nutmeg; add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in cranberries and orange peel.
Pour into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. cut warm cake into squares; serve with cream sauce.
